Apprenticeship Program
The Front Porch Apprenticeship provides hands-on experience working in a professional theater company while supporting the mission and values of The Front Porch Arts Collective. This Apprenticeship is intended for college seniors, recent college graduates and young professionals looking to expand their skills in working at a non profit professional theater. Apprentices are a part time position at 20 hours per week paid $20 per hour, unpaid lunch and vacation but paid government observed holidays. Apprentices work a full season from the end of August to the end of June. Apprentices can expect weekly meetings with their Supervisor, Director of Education Pascale Florestal, along with other meetings with the staff like our weekly staff meeting.
Apprentices can expect to:
Support the artistic team with our upcoming productions (company management work with artists, supporting tech rehearsals, previews and opening nights) Support with casting and producing our Reading Series (attending rehearsals and performances)
Reading plays for season selection (providing feedback on scripts, connecting and identifying themes of plays with Front Porch’s mission and values)
Support and assist with our community and fundraising events (assist with organizing and implementing the gala, fundraising events, Black Out Events, attend outside events with partners, represent the Front Porch with our Associate Producer at Boston Theater Auditions, Open Call Auditions, Showcases, assist with creating and brainstorming new events to cultivate new audiences and retain current audiences)
Support and assist any education programs and events (assist the Director of Education with implementing the Young Critics and Young Company program)
Administrative support for the company and executive leadership team (take notes for staff meetings, apprentice meetings and other large meetings, respond to the info@frontporcharts.org email, implement and update the Front Porch Calendar for productions, events, and etc. Assisting the Marketing team with updating the social media pages, website, creating and sending out the newsletter and other marketing needs that arise)
Producing and Directing the Boston Theater Marathon Selection
The Apprenticeship program starts August 26, 2024 and concludes June 27, 2025.
